Thank you for your interest in our products.

Presently, we supply four types of static dive boats. These are:

Trafalgar..53inch, Ohio.. 67inch and the Akula..44inch .The Type 2D coastal submarine at 66inches is the newest boat in the range and is a very comprehensive and detailed kit.

These submarines are classified as ‘static dive’ models which, like their full size counterparts, are able to submerge whilst on the move or at a standstill.

All of our boat kits are built to order and are individually crafted. The hulls are made in two separate parts which form upper and lower halves. Built from glassfibre, they are extremely tough and resilient whilst the gelcoated surface contains a superb highly detailed pre-moulded finish. The hull is free flooding with a detachable dive unit secured to the inside of the lower hull half. This unit is completely self contained and houses the motor(s), speed controller, radio, pump and ballast tank.

Power is normally provided by a single lead acid battery mounted in front of the dive unit however the Trafalgar and Type2D are powered by a Nickel Metal Hydride battery contained in the bottom of the hulls. The Ohio requires only four channels to operate it whilst the others in the range require five.

These models are sold as complete kits. The term “complete kit” means virtually all components to complete the boats are included.     Radio and speed controllers must be purchased as separate items. We do not supply radio equipment but can supply speed controllers which have proven highly suitable for use in these boats. A self leveling unit is recommended to maintain stability when submerged and can also be supplied.

You will also have to purchase a tin of resin/ glass mix, of the type used to repair car bodywork. This is used to bond a few items in place, so armed with this and with a few simple handtools, you can commence construction as soon as the lid is removed from the box…. we send all our boats out in wooden boxes.

The Type2D coastal submarine requires more input on the part of the constructor than the others in the range. There are  many slots to cut out on the sides and deck, the outlines of which are moulded into the surface of the hull. All of these boats are straightforward to construct and require no special tools or modelling skills so even as a raw beginner, you should be able to put one together fairly rapidly.

In operation, these boats are simplicity themselves to control. The dive function is merely one lever or switch on the transmitter which controls a valve and pump. Push the lever in one direction and the tank floods, sending your boat down, push it in the opposite direction and the boat will surface. Between these two extremes, the lever closes the valve, thereby retaining the ballast water and making it possible to keep the boat submerged.

Five channel radio is required to operate these boats but if one wished to use only four, the foreplanes should be fixed. Normally, you will need four standard size servos, one of which should be ballraced. Three channels are used for rudder, rear dive planes and fore planes. The rudder and rear planes are controlled by normal stick functions, whilst the foreplanes can be arranged to work from a knob or sliding control on the transmitter. A fourth channel is used for the speed controller whilst the fifth channel (ballraced servo), controls the ballast tank valve and pump requirements. The ballraced ballast tank servo should best be controlled by a three position switch or by a control which will allow three distinct positions to be selected. On most six channel TXs, it is possible to use one of the unused horizontal stick functions to this end. You may already have a suitable radio set but, if not you will have to seek the advice of a modelshop/supplier.

The unique design of our dive unit is responsible for the success of this range of boats .  These dive units all share the same range of tried and tested components and exhibit an extremely high reliability factor. The Type2D units differ in that they incorporate twin motor/gearbox drives and a newly designed stainless steel ballast tank.  We therefore have every confidence in the performance of our units, as do all our existing customers.

RUSSIAN “AKULA” 44” x 5”

The Akula is a “complete kit”by which we mean everything to complete this boat is in the box. It is scaled to 1/96th and is the smallest and most compact of the boats we currently produce. This boat is designed to go together really quickly with the minimum of fuss and build time. It is moulded in the same top quality gel coat and glass fibre as our larger boats and is fully detailed with all hatch lines and tile pattern in the pre- coloured surface finish. All parts to complete this boat are supplied and machined ready to fit. All control surface holes are pre-drilled with the exception of the water inlet holes. The dive unit is already assembled for you and only requires the radio and speed controller to be fitted. This is an exceedingly easy boat to build, requiring only a few simple tools and is aimed at the modeller who wants to go from the workbench to the water in the minimum time. The Akula uses a 6volt battery and for motor control and we can recommend and supply M/Troniks speed controllers at an additional cost of £35-00ea.  This boat requires 4-5 function radio (not supplied) and uses standard size servos.

ITS REALLY VERY SIMPLE AND QUICK TO BUILD!!

Ohio

The Ohio at 67inches long, is an impressive model.  The hull is moulded in   glassfibre ,formed in upper and lower halves and is exceedingly robust.

It only requires four channels to operate it and is very simple to construct. Building this boat requires the use of the most basic tools found around your workshop since all the components are made and only require fitting. The kit as supplied contains all the necessary components to complete the model, with exception of the periscopes. These items are not supplied with this kit and manufacture of these is left to the builder.

Like the others in our range, This boat uses the sealed ballast tank system which ensures reliabilty. The dive unit is built to the same specification as our other boats and comes pre-assembled, it is only necessary to fit the radio and speed controller onto the ready made servo trays, to make it operational. As with all these units the builder is required to make a small cam wheel from a servo disc to operate the water control valve.

A very robust and easy to build boat… even for raw beginners!

Trafalgar class SSBN

The Trafalgar at 53 inches, includes all the hardware necessary to construct the model. This boat has been extensively modified and is extremely easy to build using the simplest of tools. Even as a newcomer to boat modelling you should have no problems constructing this boat. Careful design has enhanced the diving characteristics, making this one of the most stable of boats when submerged. Couple these attributes with the high reliability dive units, also found in our other boats and you will have years of enjoyable sailing ahead of you.

German WW2 Type2D coastal submarine

Length:66”  Beam:8”  Height:13.5” Weight 23.5lbs

SCALE 1:27

Originally designed in 1933 for the German navy as the Type 2A, this boat was intended for coastal work. As requirements changed, the boat reached a stage of development resulting in the 2D shown here. The Type 2D was a considerably modified version of its predecessor in that it had larger fuel bunkers for greater range, larger ballast tanks for increased diving abilities and was stretched by as much as 3 metres. The larger tower, unlike its earlier counterparts, was not only more streamlined but allowed for the addition of a schnorkel and better access by the crew. The propellers were run in Kort nozzles which gave the boat improved performance. This 1:27th scale Type 2d model, unique to Sheerline, has been developed with fine attention to detail and exhibits all the air of the original.

The kit for this model has been designed for ease of construction and should present no problems, even for modellers of modest skills. The photo aided instruction manual is very comprehensive and will carry you easily through the building and finishing process.

All components are supplied to complete the model with the exception of deck and tower railings. The full set of hardware is supplied which includes our exceedingly reliable pre-assembled dive unit. The universal joint couplings and 50mm brass propellers are supplied and ready fitted to their shafts. Other details such as the 2cm flak gun, flag, and brass mesh for the tower deck are included.  The control surfaces are ready fitted with shafts and bearing tubes, along with their control horns and rods.

Metal gun and mounting supplied      Scopes and all tower mouldings are included

Bollards and fairleads supplied       pre-fabricated aft control unit

The performance of this boat is exceptional. Power is derived from a 12V 9Ahr nickel metal hydride battery which is supplied fully waterproofed. The boat is driven by a pair of powerful geared motor units which are incorporated in the dive unit. The large single rudder and aft planes allow for very responsive and accurate manouverability.

This boat requires 5ch radio control and a self levelling unit. The self levelling unit can be supplied by us and is necessary to maintain the superb controllability of this boat whilst submerged.

This very comprehensive and detailed kit is priced at

£950-00 + carr (£40-00 UK)

These are handcrafted kits individually made to order and are packed in our own specially constructed wooden boxes.
